After a disappointing 2013 season which, for the first time in five years, saw the London Blitz American Football club fail to secure a national championship, this weekend marks the start of the domestic campaign.

The Finsbury Park-based Under-17s travel to Watford on Sunday to face the Watford Cheetahs, local rivals the London Warriors and last year’s divisional champions the Kent Exiles.

The Blitz recently played against the Exiles in a pre-season tournament, and went 18-0 up and, despite a comeback, held on to win 24-19.

The Under-19s host the first game of their season at Finsbury Park against the Colchester Gladiators. With a new look team and changes to the national set up for the junior format, the Blitz are looking to get the season off to a winning start.

Kick-off is at 12pm at Finsbury Park Athletics Stadium and entrance is free.

Following the junior game the London Blitz senior elite team will play their first league game as they look to win the Premier Division South title after losing in the finals to the London Warriors.

The Blitz are coming off a disappointing start to the IFAF European Champions League with a 51-14 loss in Paris to Les Templiers D’Elancourt and are hoping to get back to winning ways as they host the South Wales Warriors.

The London Blitz also have a cadet flag (Under-12s), junior flag (Under-18s), senior flag (over-18s) and a senior kitted development squad for people that want to get involved in the sport.
