Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement denying they have approached any clubs in view of appointing a new manager this summer.

Current Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood is expected to leave at the end of the season despite having another year remaining on his contract.

A number of managers have been linked with the job and Frank de Boer, who is currently in charge at Ajax, said he has been approached to hold talks with Tottenham about succeeding Sherwood.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly another target for Spurs but Tottenham strongly deny contacting any club regarding coaching appointments.

The statement read: “Reports that we have made approaches to other clubs regarding coaching staff are wholly inaccurate. We have NOT contacted any club regarding coaching appointments.

“We regret that a statement such as this is necessary, however we feel it is important to clarify matters.”
