London Blitz Juniors remain unbeaten in the South A Division after a comprehensive 46-6 win at national champions London Warriors.

The Blitz were feeling confident after an opening weekend 60-7 victory over the Colchester Gladiators and were looking to reverse last year’s results which saw the Blitz lose two close games against the Warriors.

The Finsbury Park side had the best possible start when quarterback Alex Dickson twice connected with wide receiver Carlos Tarragona early in the game for two touchdowns, sending the Blitz into a 13-0 lead.

The Blitz began to get their running game going with a strong performance by the offensive line and running back Dwight Caulker. In the second quarter Caulker plunged in from the one yard line for the first of his two rushing touchdowns on the day to make the score 19-0. The Warriors got on the scoresheet but with time running out in the first half Alex Dickson hit wide receiver Alex Ajuwon for a 28-yard strike to make the half-time score 27-6.

In the second half the London Blitz defence continued to play strong, forcing turnovers and getting on the scoreboard themselves. Safety Mike Akinlade returned an interception all the way for a touchdown and linebacker Theo Andreiser scored a safety, tackling the Warriors ball carrier in his own end zone. The offence also got on the scoresheet in the second half, Dwight Caulker scoring the second of his rushing touchdowns and kicker Evan Newton adding a 42-yard field goal to complete an impressive win. London Blitz have a short break before the return leg of the local derby against the London Warriors, to be played at Finsbury Park Athletics Field on June 8.
