Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho was unable to help Brazil maintain their 100 per cent record in the World Cup last night.
The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes but the hosts were held to a 0-0 draw against Mexico in their second game of Group A.
Paulinho had the best chance of the game just before half-time when Thiago Silva chested a free-kick into the path of the Spurs man to shoot from close-range.
Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa produced a man of the match display and was quick off his line to deny the Brazilian his sixth goal for the national side.
Brazil’s final group game is against Cameroon on Monday in Brasilia.
