Totttenham Hotspur have completed the £4m signing of Sporting Lisbon defender, Eric Dier, subject to the player completing a medical.
Dier, an England Under-21 international, had been heavily linked with a switch to White Hart Lane and becomes new head coach Mauricio Pochettino's third summer signing.
The 20-year-old centre-back had turned down the offer of a new contract at Sporting this summer, paving the way for a cut-price return to England.
Born in Cheltenham, Dier moved to Portugal with his parentts at the age of ten before beginning his professional career with Sporting Lisbon.
The 6ft 2in defender returned to England briefly with Everton in 2011 but failed to make an appearance during a brief loan spell on Merseyside.
An England Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 cap, Dier made 31 first-team appearances for Sporting.
