Haringey Borough edged to a 4-3 penalty shootout win at Hullbridge Sports in the Gordon Brasted Trophy on Tuesday night.
The match finished all square at 2-2 but Ashley Harris’ penalty save sent Boro through to a home quarter-final tie against Sawbridgeworth Town.
The visitors fell behind when a long shot by Harry Skinner deceived goakeeper Harris.
But Boro levelled the contest when Anthony McDonald produced a superb individual run and shot.
Daniel Aristidou fired Haringey into the lead after the break but this was cancelled out when Kurtis Clarke scored in the 59th minute.
The match went to penalties with Boro edging to victory.
In their next match, Haringey travel to Clapton in the Essex Senior League.
Haringey Boro Women are under new management, with Steve Browne taking over the reins from Natalie Silva-Knight.
Browne has run the successful youth league club S & T Academy and has been coaching Boro women for two months.
He will be assisted by Karla Parker, who has spent 11 years as a player adminstrator, by coach Mickey Leslie and also Kendal Campbell.
