Haringey Borough kept up the pressure on Essex Premier Division leaders Barking after snatching a late 2-1 win at third-placed FC Romania on Saturday.
Ilie Vasile opened the scoring for the hosts before the visitors levelled through debutant Leroy Griffiths’ volley.
The match was heading for a draw but Haringey snatched the points with a winner three minutes from time through Jorge Djassi-Sambu’s overhead kick.
Boro remain one point behind Barking but have four games in hand.
Tom Loizou’s side reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup after a 1-0 home win over Ilford on Tuesday night.
Ilford were reduced to ten in the latter stages of the second half and Haringey took advantage.
Tashan Bradshaw-Brown netted the 84th-minute winner from close range to secure a home tie with Takeley in the next round.
