Darrell Cox scored eight times for champions Haringey Borough as they finished their Essex Senior League campaign with a 12-0 thrashing of Tower Hamlets on Saturday.

The title winners opened the scoring within 15 seconds when Cox scored.

Leroy Griffiths and Daniel Aristidou added efforts in the first half while Cox went on to score another seven goals, in a record- equalling display, including the final strike of the game.

Dean Fenton and Joshua Willer also found the net for Boro as they celebrated promotion in style.

Haringey’s exceptional season saw them win 34 of their 38 league games scoring a record 129 goals.

It was also a league best total of 103 points, while Boro recorded the most wins in a season and the joint highest goal difference of 99.

But Boro were unable to reach the final of the Essex Senior League Cup after losing 4-1 at home to Bowers & Pitsea in their semi final on Tuesday night.

It looked promising for Tom Loizou’s side after taking a ninth minute lead through Cox.

But two quick goals from Rob Whitwell handed the visitors a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, Lewis Manor turned the ball home for Bowers & Pitsea.

Manor sealed the win in the 61st minute which took the striker’s tally to 37 goals for the season.
