Emmanuel Adebayor's Tottenham Hotspur future has been cast into fresh doubt after he was granted compassionate leave for the second time this season.

The Togolese forward will miss Spurs' final Premier League game of the season at Everton after being allowed to return home to "fix" his family problems.

Adebayor has written at length on his Facebook page about deep-rooted family issues and even admitted he had contemplated suicide on more than one occasion.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's trip to Goodison Park, head coach Mauricio Pochettino revealed the 31-year-old had been allowed to return to Togo for compassionate reasons.

"Of course we let him go to Togo and fix his problems with his family," said Pochettino.

"This is a private life. I spoke with him earlier in the week, it is difficult for him.

"One problem is his private live, the other is the sports side and always we need to take a decision for the future of the club, but there is no decision yet.

"We need to take a decision next week and at this moment we don't take any decision."

The former Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City striker has made just nine league starts for Spurs this term, scoring twice.

Adebayor was also granted compassionate leave in December for "personal reasons".
