Harry Kane's superb season showed no signs of abating as Tottenham Hotspur kicked off the first leg of their end-of-season tour with a 2-1 win against a Malaysian XI in Kuala Lumpar.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino named a strong starting XI, which also included youngster Harry Winks, but made five changes at the break to introduce a number of younger players.

Kane took 19 minutes to open the scoring, firing home after Tom Carroll has struck the post with a shot.

Just after the half-hour mark the hosts drew level through Thiago Juninho, though.

A second followed for the England international two minutes before half time, following good work from Andros Townsend and Carroll again.

Reflecting on the win, head coach Pochettino told the club website: “It was a difficult game.

“The conditions were tough, it’s not easy to play in this weather; very hot, very humid on the pitch and the players were also a little tired after the travelling but I think we’re happy.

“We’ve done some good things, the young players did well and it was a great experience for us.

“It’s been a good opportunity for the youngsters to play and train with the first team and that’s important because they are the future of the club.”

Spurs have already touched down in Sydney and will face A-League side Sydney FC on Saturday at 11am GMT.
