Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, Alex Pritchard and Tom Carroll helped England's Under-21s get their European Championships campaign up-and-running with a 1-0 win over Sweden on Saturday.

After falling to a 1-0 defeat against Portgual in their Group B opener on Thursday, Gareth Southgate's side knew they would have to take something from their tussle with the Swedes in order to keep their qualification hopes alive.

And a late goal from Manchester United's young midfielder Jesse Lingard sealed the win for the Young Lions just five minutes from time.

Spurs striker Kane played the full 90 minutes, with midfield duo Pritchard and Carroll both replaced in the second half as England went in search of the winner.

Italy await on Wednesday in England's final Group B fixture. Currently second in the standings, England can still go through as group winners if they better Portugal's result against Sweden.
