Olympic champion Nicola Adams won the flyweight gold medal at the European Games in Baku this afternoon to complete a historic treble.

Adams defeated Poland’s former European silver medalist Sandra Drabik in the final on a majority points decision.

The Great Britain boxer won 2-0 after two judges gave her a 37-39 win while a third judge ruled the contest as a 38-38 draw.

Adams added the European Games title to her list of achievements after winning gold at the 2012 London Olympics and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last summer.

Adams will now be eyeing a title defence at next year’s Rio Olympics.

The Haringey boxer defeated Turkey’s Elif Coskun by unanimous decision in her semi-final in Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

Adams had few problems easing to a 3-0 victory with all three judges ruling the four-round bout 40-36 in favour of the Great Britain boxer.

Adams won her quarter-final on Monday after a 2-0 victory over Stoyka Petrova.
