Roberto Soldado could remain at Tottenham Hotspur should Emmanuel Adebayor depart White Hart Lane, according to the Daily Mail.
It is understood that the Spanish striker is a popular figure at the club and is also liked by the management at the north London club.
His future at the club hinges on the departure of Adebayor, though, with Spurs desperate to offload the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker.
Aston Villa are believed to be in talks with Spurs for the striker, but his £100,000-a-week wages are proving to be a stumbling block.
Former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood wants to take Adebayor on loan for the season with the option of making the switch permanent next summer but it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy will sanction this move.
