Emmanuel Adebayor has been left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s 25-man Premier League squad, leaving them with just one striker.

Spurs have omitted the 31-year-old forward, who they attempted to offload during the summer transfer window, and now have only Harry Kane to lead the line.

Togolese striker Adebayor was also absent from the club’s Europa League squad and is not in Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the forthcoming season.

On transfer deadline day this week, the White Hart Lane club offered to cancel the former Arsenal striker’s contract, but refused to pay the £5 million up front Adebayor was demanding.

And after moves to Aston Villa and West Ham United broke down, Spurs failed to offer the ex-Real Madrid man a squad number, suggesting he would not be part of the side’s preparations for the season.

Adebayor now faces a four-month period in which he will not play senior football ‒ until January ‒ while the final year of his £100,000-per-week contract runs down.

Adebayor only made ten appearances for Spurs last season, scoring two goals.
