London Skolars' game against Toulouse Olympique has been called off.
The match was scheduled for Sunday but last night’s snowfall put paid to any hopes that the game could go ahead as planned.
“Given we’ve had the mildest December and January in memory, it’s ironic that the bad weather should arrive at the start of the season,” reflected a rueful Howard Kramer, Skolars’ general manager.
“The temperature here has barely risen above freezing all week and last night’s weather meant there was no chance that the last of the snow still remaining from last week would melt.
“Both sides would like to have played the game this weekend. Toulouse are involved in several competitions at home and over here. They were due to travel on Saturday and with the current state of the pitch and the forecasts for continued cold weather it would be unfair to have them come over in the hope that conditions might improve in the next 48 hours.”
The club will be working with Toulouse and the RFL to find a suitable date for the re-arrangement.
