Spurs are one of a number of clubs to have made an approach for Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen, according to the player’s agent.

The White Hart Lane side have previously been linked with the player, alongside fellow north Londoners Arsenal.

Belgian international Vertonghen has a year left on his contract but his agent Mustapha Nakhli has confirmed Spurs are among the sides to have made an approach.

“There is enormous interest. A number of clubs have made concrete approaches, with Tottenham among them,” Nakhli is quoted on ESPN.

“Jan has a few dream clubs. Playing at the top of the Premier League is something he has worked really hard for.”
