Dutch international and Champions League winner Edgar Davids has joined Barnet as joint head coach alongside Mark Robson.
The 39-year-old, who has played for several top European clubs including Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan and Spurs will work in partnership with Robson but has also expressed a desire to make a return to first team football with the Bees.
Davids stated he was 'very excited' about signing a deal at Underhill.
"I'm happy to explore my possibilities and share my knowledge and experience with Barnet Football Club. I am very excited about the challenge ahead," he told the Barnet website.
The Bees are yet to win a game this season but Robson believes Davids' experience will benefit his players.
"I am delighted to welcome Edgar to our club. His experience as a player throughout his illustrious career will be a massive benefit to all our players and I look forward to forming a strong partnership with him."
Davids began his career in Holland with Ajax. After progressing through the club's youth system he made 106 league appearances before moving to Italy.
After a brief stint with AC Milan, the combative midfielder joined Juventus and claimed the Serie A title on three occasions.
A loan spell at Spanish giants Barcelona followed in 2004 before short stays at Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.
He returned to Ajax for the 2007/2008 campaign before retiring at the end of that season. He made a comeback with English side Crystal Palace in 2010 but made only seven appearances for the club.
