Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson proved the difference in Iceland's 2-1 win over Albania

Spurs midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson grabbed a vital late winner as Iceland beat Albania 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The 23-year-old hit the net with a sweetly-struck free-kick from just outside the area with nine minutes to go to give Iceland their second win of the campaign, leaving them second behind Switzerland.

Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele each set up a goal in Belgium's impresssive 3-0 victory away to Serbia, who hadn't lost at home in World Cup qualifying for over ten years.

The win puts Belgium top of Group A.

Clint Dempsey played 90 minutes in USA's 2-1 victory over Antigue & Berbuda as Eddie Johnson headed home the winner in the 91st minute.

Hugo Lloris started in goal for France in their 1-0 friendly defeat to Japan. Manchester United's Shinji Kagawa scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute.

Young Jordan Archer played 90 minutes in Scotland Under-21s 2-0 defeat to the USA.

Dominic Ball started and Aaron McEneff came on as a substitute in Northern Ireland's 2-0 defeat to Greece in the Under-19 European Championship qualifier.
