Aston Villa have opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over signing Emmanuel Adebayor according to the Daily Mail, with Tim Sherwood seeing the striker as an ideal replacement for Christian Benteke.
Adebayor fell out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino last season, with the Togo international being restricted to just 17 appearances.
He enjoyed a fruitful spell at Spurs whilst Sherwood was head coach at the club, ending the 2013/14 season with 14 goals in 25 games.
It is claimed that Tottenham will receive a fee of £4 million for the striker, but Adebayor’s £100,000 a week wages could be the stumbling block.
