Italian champions Juventus are reportedly interested in signing out-of-favour Tottenham playmaker Erik Lamela, if they are unable to prize Christian Eriksen from north London club.

The Turin outfit have been tracking Denmark international Eriksen throughout the transfer window, according to the London Evening Standard, although a deal for Lamela seems more likely.

Eriksen played a significant part in securing European football once again for Spurs last term, featuring just behind top-scorer Harry Kane in the number ten role and head coach Mauricio Pochettino would be reluctant to let the 23-year-old leave the club.

His agent, Martin Schoots, told Danish press: “Christian is now happy to be at Spurs, but you never know what happens tomorrow.

“I never speak about specific clubs,” he continued. “But we know that very big clubs have been after Christian since he was 14 years old.”

Meanwhile, Argentine forward Lamela, who has failed to live up to his £30 million fee since arriving from Roma in 2013, could provide a suitable alternative to Eriksen

Tottenham are prepared to allow the 23-year-old to leave White Hart Lane following two frustrating seasons in north London.

The former River Plate man featured sparingly during his first year with the club but made 25 Premier League starts last season and scored twice in the league.
