Irving quits Skolars

London Skolars today announced that Callum Irving has resigned as head coach.

A change in Irving's personal and family circumstances has meant that his continuation in the full-time head coach role was unsustainable.

Irving has been with the club for over 18 productive month,s initially in a part time capacity, and took the helm as head coach for the 2009 season.

Irving has been responsible for a significant improvement throughout the organisation, predominantly in community and player development strategies, including focusing on locally produced players as part of a long term plan to rebalance the club's playing structure.

Hector McNeil, Skolars’ CEO, said: "We would like to wish Callum the best of luck for the future. It's a real shame he has to leave us but due to the changes in his personal circumstances both Callum and the club believe this is for the best. We would like to thank Callum for the superb work he has done to develop the club both on and off the field. I personally wish him the best for his future and he will be welcome back at White Hart Lane whenever he is in the capital."

The Skolars’ directors will consider what is best for the long term future of the club. It is clear a coach who can continue to develop local talent in tandem with the Quins and the RFL in London will be the priority. In the short term interim, arrangements will be put in place ahead of this weekend's game against top of the league Dewsbury Rams.
