In last weekend’s Aviva Five Nations International at Glasgow, Enfield & Haringey AC’s Leon Baptiste put down an early marker for this summer’s major Games when he won the men’s 200m in 21.34 seconds, a time that takes him to the top of the UK rankings.
Over the last two summers, Baptiste – despite finishing third in both the Olympic and World trials – has been passed over when teams were chosen; hopefully this track season will be a case of third time lucky with European Championship and Commonwealth Games places up for grabs.
