E&H athletes in indoor medal haul

AT the combined Hertfordshire and Middlesex Indoor championships staged at the Lee Valley Athletic Centre last Sunday, Enfield & Haringey AC athletes won 18 gold medals.

Charlotte Wingfield took the Herts W17 60 metre title in a championship best time of 7.79 and also went gold in winning the W17 200m in 25.85. Training partner Desiree Henry grabbed the Middlesex gold medals in the same events with runs timed at 7.64 and 24.71.

New member Leo Lundgren set a championship best when he reached 13.50m in the Herts M20 triple jump. LVAC staff member Nikki Silva ran two laps in 59.36 to take the Herts senior women’s 400m crown. Stephen Barnard added the Hertfordshire senior men’s 60m hurdles gold (8.83) to his bronze (7.35) from the 60m flat.

In the Middlesex G15 races Chloe Horne was another double winner with 8.20 in the 60m and 26.93 in the one lap 200m. Chris Kandu equalled his outdoor personal best when winning the Middlesex B15 high jump gold on countback from Horeb Makabukidi - both cleared 1.70m which was a new PB for the latter. Beth Grimsey was close to her personal best in winning the Middlesex W17 high jump with 1.60m; Beth sailed over 2.80 in the pole vault to add that title to her collection. Joanna Willard was second in that competition with a 2.40m clearance while Pernille Douvran achieved 3.20m in the senior event for the Middlesex gold.
