THERE was success for Wood Green Weightlifting Club at Crystal Palace.

The club fielded three succesful lifters in this year's London and South East Olympic Weightlifting Championships at Crystal Palace.

Head coach Dave Kaye was very pleased with the results. "These lads are demonstrating great potential for future Olympic competition by training hard with dedication for this very tough sport," he said.

Marco Neechi-Giri was third in the Under 23 69kg category with a 170kg total.

His brother Stefano was second in the U23 85Kg category with a total of 202kg.

Tom Blackman was 1st in the U18 85kg category with a personal best total of 155Kg.

The athletes have to perform two lifts for a competitive total, namely the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk.
