London Skolars established their largest winning margin in the league with a 12-try demolition of North Wales Crusaders as Dylan Skee broke his own individual points scoring record, his two tries and nine goals giving him a 26-point haul in the 66-16 romp.

Skolars were dominant from the start. A Skee 40-20 kick in the first set of six established the tone and he cut through the defence to open the scoring on the next move. After Andy McLean’s bomb on the next set was fumbled, there was no stopping Lamont Bryan as he stampeded through the defence to put the hosts 10-0 up after just four minutes.

It wasn’t long before Matt Thomas broke through to set up John Paxton’s try and when McLean’s long pass put Joe Price over, Skolars were in control.

Neil Thorman ducked under the defence to go over the line from dummy half and McLean pushed out a short pass for Alex Bate to score. Brad Hopkins scored on the left on his debut to put Skolars 40-0 in front at half-time.

The Crusaders made progress in the second half, with tries for Danny Hulme and Lee Hudson, but the respite was shortlived.

With Bryan and Dave Williams both making inroads into the defence with regularity, Skolars scored three tries in seven minutes after a Welsh player was sin-binned for a high tackle. Chris McNamara scored out wide, Thomas finished off an Ade Adebisi break before Rob Thomas’ powerful running saw him crash through the defence to make it ten different try scorers.

Skee added a second try after a Bryan break before Hulme touched down his second for the visitors to the delight of the travelling fans from Wrexham. But it was Skolars who had the final say when Hopkins scored down the middle to give Skee an easy conversion to set his record.

It was also a good day for the Reserves, with Will Colleran and James Fletcher both scoring two tries as they ran out 44-18 winners against St Albans Centurions.

Skolars entertain two times champions Leigh Centurions in the third round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup on Saturday. A win would give them the opportunity for a tilt at Super League opposition.
