Adam Smith played a key role in giving England Under-21s the edge in their Euro 2013 play-off as four Spurs players lined up for Stuart Pearce’s men against Serbia at Carrow Road last night.
The full-back was fouled for the second half penalty which West Bromwich Albion’s Craig Dawson converted to give England the upper hand going into the second leg in Krusevac on Tuesday.
Tottenham contributed three of the hosts’ four back, with Smith lining up alongside Steven Caulker and on-loan Sunderland player Danny Rose, while Andros Townsend came off the bench in the 66th minute to replace Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling.
