Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams has been given the Joe Bromley Award for Outstanding Services to Boxing in recognition of her contribution to women’s boxing and her performances in 2012.
The 29-year-old, who fights out of Haringey Community Police Club, won her third consecutive World Championship silver medal in May before becoming the first women in history to win an Olympic boxing gold medal.
Adams is also the first female boxer to ever receive an award from the Boxing Writers’ Club.
“It’s been an amazing year for me and the GB Boxing team,” said Adams. "It is great to be recognised for your achievements and it just makes me even more determined to keep doing well and go out there and win more medals.
“It is a real honour to win this award and I would like to thank everyone that has helped me over the course of my career, particularly Rob McCracken at GB Boxing and Alwyn Belcher who coached me when I first came into the sport.
