Spurs have added Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic to their January shortlist according to reports in Italy.

The former Lyon midfielder is unsettled at the Italian giants and is rumoured to be on the lookout for a new club as soon as possible.

That has alerted Tottenham, who are still in the hunt for a replacement for Luka Modric who left for Real Madrid in the summer.

Joao Moutinho was close to a move at the end of August but the deal fell through and is unlikely to be resurrected.

Pjanic, 22, is highly-rated across Europe and could cost as little as £8m.

Former Roma player Max Tonetto said: “With Pjanic there will be no half measures, either he adapts to the new system or he may not have a future with Roma.”
