Tottenham's 2-1 win over Arsenal at White Hart Lane means Andre Villas-Boas' side now have more points than Harry Redknapp's Spurs team did at the same stage last season.
After 28 games played Spurs now have 54 points in the league, one point more than the 53 points Tottenham had amassed at the same time last year.
With ten games to go Redknapp's men had just lost their last three games against Arsenal, Manchester United and Everton before continuing their winless run in the next two matches with draws against Stoke City and Chelsea.
Concerns that Spurs may slip into another late slump this campaign have so far proved unfounded as the team have won their last four in the league and are unbeaten in 12.
Tottenham had trailed last season's points total ever since the second match of the campaign.
