Tottenham Hotspur's Steven Caulker replaces Rio Ferdinand in England squad as Manchester United defender pulls out

Spurs defender Steven Caulker has replaced Rio Ferdinand in Roy Hodgson's England squad ahead of two World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.

The FA today announced Ferdinand would be pulling out of the squad after meeting with Hodgson last night.

Caulker had previously been included in Stuart Pearce's Under-21 squad but has now been promoted to the senior side.
