Haringey Borough back on track with Stansted win
3:23pm Thursday 10th October 2013 in Spurs
Haringey Borough ended a disappointing run of four straight defeats with a 3-1 victory at struggling Stansted in the Essex Senior League Premier Division on Tuesday night.
Borough were two up at half-time thanks to goals from Anthony McDonald and made it three in the second half through Stephanos Georgiou.
Stansted pulled one back soon after but the away team held on for a much-needed win.
Tom Loizou’s side now sit 12th in the table but have played less games than the teams directly above them.
The win halted a poor run of form that had continued on Saturday with a 3-2 defeat at London APSA.
Keith Oppong put APSA in front after 20 minutes and soon after the home side doubled their lead through Jason Agyekum.
Borough found some rhythm and pulled a goal back just after the half-hour mark when McDonald capitalised on a defensive mix-up.
The visitors continued to press forward after the interval and in the 58th minute they equalised as Andre Odetola pounced on a loose ball, he drove a shot across goal which was deflected into the back of the net.
Parity however was short-lived as Vendel Nunez restored the hosts’ lead and while Borough carved out some seemingly unmissable chances at the end, they were unable to snatch a draw.
Borough have two successive away matches up next starting with a visit to Basildon United this weekend.
