Lewis Holtby is still desperate to make a go of his Tottenham career, despite currently being loaned out to relegation-threatened Fulham.

The three-time capped Germany international showed glimpses of his quality in a Spurs shirt.

His only Premier League goal for Tim Sherwood's side this season was a screamer from the edge of the box, ironically against current club Fulham.

Despite heavy speculation in January Holtby would seek a return home to his native country, the midfielder insists he wants to prove himself at White Hart Lane.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Holtby said: “I signed a long contract at Tottenham and I was hoping to have a long future at the club.

“I still believe I can do that. I have the qualities to play for Tottenham.”

Tottenham’s current managerial situation heading into next season appears to be unresolved at present and it's likely that Holtby's future at White Hart Lane is dependent on the outcome of that situation.

Holtby’s father was born in England before moving to Germany, and it would seem the playmaker plans to remain in England for the foreseeable future.
