Nicola Adams will attempt to become the first woman to win a boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games next week.

Haringey Police & Community Boxing Club’s Adams celebrated Olympic gold in London two years ago and is hoping to land another title in Glasgow over the next week.

The 31-year-old is competing in the women’s flyweight competition which gets underway on Monday.

Women’s boxing is included in the Commonwealth Games for the first time this year.

Adams suffered her first defeat for two years when she was beaten in the European Championships by Bulgaria’s Stoyka Petrova last month.
