Tottenham Hotspur pair Alex Pritchard and Ryan Fredericks went head-to-head in the Championship on Saturday, with the latter’s Middlesbrough side beating Brentford.
Full-back Fredericks played the whole game for Boro, helping his side thrash Brentford 4-0 at The Riverside Stadium. However, Pritchard only managed 66 minutes before being replaced by Marcus Tebar.
In Germany, Lewis Holtby played the full game for Hamburg as they held Bayern Munich to a goalless draw in the Bundesliga, in what was Josef Zinnbauer’s first match in charge following the sacking of Mirko Slomka.
In League One, Kenny McEvoy was back in Peterborough United’s starting line-up for their trip to Yeovil. He was replaced after 71 minutes and a late Yeovil goal sent the Posh to a 1-0 defeat.
Two loanees featured in League Two, with Jordan Archer in goal for Northampton Town as they failed to beat Accrington Stanley in a nine-goal thriller, the match ending 5-4 to the visitors.
Striker Shaquile Coulthirst played 65 minutes for Southend United as they won 3-2 at York City.
In the Premier League, Tom Carroll was an unused substitute for Swansea City as they lost 1-0 at home to Southampton, as was Tomislav Gomelt for Bari as they won 2-0 at home to Livorno in Italy’s Serie ‘B’.
Grant Ward featured for Chicago Fire as they drew 3-3 at home to DC United in the American MLS.
