Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino believes today’s victory against Everton was “more than three points”.

Tottenham won their first home match in the league since October 5, as they came from behind to win 2-1.

Spurs have lost more home games than any other side this season, with defeats against Newcastle, Liverpool, West Brom and Stoke.

However, Pochettino believes that today’s result had bigger significance that just the three points.

He said; “Everton is a very tough squad and team and for us it I think it is a little bit more than the three points. To break this run of results and was important to get the victory.

“You win away and lose a home this is not the right way.”

Kevin Mirallas gave Everton an early lead with a phenomenal curling effort.

But Spurs showed spirit and desire to comeback in the first half through Christian Eriksen and the Roberto Soldado who scored his first league goal since March.

Speaking about Soldado’s baron run, Pochettino revealed he need to give “confidence” to his front man in order to break the run.

He said: “You need to give the confidence to the player, during this time it was not easy but you need to motivate the player because it is frustrating when a striker doesn’t score. He feels more free now.

“We played in a very good style, we are now focussed on Wednesday.”

The relief around the ground and in the home dugout was apparent at the full time whistle and the result means Spurs go to within three points of the top four.

Pochettino added: “We are very pleased and very happy. Today was an important day for us and the result was important, to get the three points. I am very happy with the team and the performance.

“I want to say thank you to the supporters because today was not easy from the beginning we conceded but we turned over the result in the first half and I think it was important that our supporters help the team.”

His side now travel to Stamford Bridge to face leaders Chelsea on Wednesday night.
