Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted his goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made vital saves to stop Crystal Palace taking all three points.

Spurs dropped more points at home as they put in another poor display in front of their home fans in a 0-0 draw with the south London club.

Pochettino revealed that his side lacked "freshness” following three games in a week.

He said: “It was not an easy game. I think Crystal Palace is a very physical team and we did not show the freshness we showed against Everton

“I think that we are not happy with our performance and I think the draw was fair.”

Captain for the day Lloris stopped Scott Dann in the first half and Yannick Bolasie in the second with two fine stops.

Asked if he was relieved to avoid defeat, Pochettino said: “Yes maybe Hugo made two big saves but this is football, and it [Tottenham’s display] was not a good performance.”

First playing Everton last Sunday, and then again Chelsea on Wednesday night, the Spurs boss expressed the importance of an extra day’s rest.

He said: “We play a lot of games and I think we have a lot of young players. When you have an extra day recovery, we have just two days recovery and Palace three, that is a little advantage for the opponent.  We need to be more aggressive.

“It [the extra day] is massive, it is not an excuse but it is important. Maybe you need longer for your muscles to recover.”

The fixtures continue to pile up in February for Pochettino’s side as they travel to Istanbul to face Besiktas on Thursday.
