Neil Robertson admits Alexandra Palace is a great venue for him as he looks to win his second Masters title.

The world number one captured the Masters back in 2012 and the Australian would love to get his hands on the trophy again.

Robertson said: "That was the first year it was held at Ally Pally and it was a fantastic moment to win the title. I also got to the final the following year so it has been a great venue for me.

"Last year I was a bit disappointed to lose to Stephen Maguire in the quarter-finals. It’s an excellent venue and this is one of the three biggest events of the season alongside the World and UK Championship."

Robertson admits you cannot afford to start slowly in the tournament with world class players in the limited field event.

He said: "I like it when the crowd get involved. Every match is between two top 16 players so it always feels like a big occasion.

"You know you need to play well to win and that the other guy will be just as hungry. It’s not a tournament you can work your way into, you have to be at your best from the start."

In the opening round, Robertson will take on Robert Milkins and the Australian admits he cannot take his opponent lightly.

He said: "Robert is a very dangerous player as he proved when he beat me at the World Championship in 2013. He has definitely earned his place at the Masters by getting into the top 16. It’s a tough match for me."

Tickets for the tournament, which runs from January 11 to 18, are on sale now. For details see www.worldsnooker.com/tickets
