Haringey Aquatics swimmers enjoyed medal success and a string of personal bests at the Middlesex County Age Group Championships at Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre last weekend.

Alex Vonckx claimed silver in the boys (age 13-14) 100m breaststroke losing out on gold by one second.

In 42 events, 37 personal best times were achieved with four swimmers earning a chance to swim in the 100m finals.

The club’s members will now aim to qualify for the regionals which will be held at the London Aquatic Centre in May.

The swimmers, ranging in age from ten to 25, overcame the fastest qualifying times in county history in order to compete.

Haringey Aquatics will participate in a total of 132 events over the three weeks of competition; a 35 percent increase over last year and a club all-time-high. Six girls will compete alongside 15 boys.

In 2013, the club fielded its first ever male national swimmer and were promoted to Division One of both the national Arena and M11 Junior League.

Last year the club had its first female swimmer on the national stage, produced gold at the London Youth Games, gained swim 21-accreditation and was voted Haringey’s sports club of the year.

Haringey Aquatics, under the direction of head coach Paul Doyle, provides swimming, diving and water polo training at three Haringey-based pools: Northumberland Park Community School (Learn 2 Swim), Tottenham Green Leisure Centre (Swimming and Water Polo) and soon-to-re-open Park Road Pools in Crouch End (Swimming, Diving and Water Polo).
