Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose has been denied the chance to make his England debut after withdrawing from the squad due to injury.

Rose, 24, was a late addition to the squad after Manchester United's Luke Shaw was himself forced to withdraw with an injury.

England host Lithuania in a 2016 European Championships qualifier on Friday before travelling to Italy for a friendly on Tuesda.

The Spurs left-back has already won 19 England Under-21 caps and represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics in London.

And, despite being called up by Roy Hodgson before, the Doncaster-born defender has failed to make it off the substitutes' bench for the Three Lions.

The Football Association have announced a replacement will not be called up, with Kieran Gibbs and Leighton Baines already in the squad.
