Real Madrid Elite Under-16s have been crowned champions at the national deaf football tournament on Sunday.
The team , based in Tottenham, battled it out against sides from across the UK at St George’s Park at the tournament, which was run by the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS).
Their final game against Derby ended in a 1-0 victory and clinched the trophy at the the UK’s largest club-based football tournament for deaf children.
Team manager Steve Down said: “I am unbelievably proud of the team. Today’s great result is a credit to the hard work they’ve put in since day one and the ability to believe in themselves and strive for success. I hope they inspire other deaf young people to get involved in sport.”
Hundreds took part in this year’s annual five-a-side tournament, which is the ninth to be held as part of NDCS’s Me2 project.
