Tottenham Hotspur appear set to miss out on Monaco winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.

The 21-year-old, who made his international debut for Belgium in March, had long been linked with a move to White Hart Lane and it was reported Spurs had a £10 million bid turned down a couple of weeks ago .

Atletico Madrid seem to have moved into pole position to sign the wideman in recent days, however.

Reports in both France and Spain suggest the Spanish side have offered £10.8 million and a 25% sell-on-clause, although Monaco are asking for a larger fee.

Negotiations are believed to be in the closing stages though, with both clubs willing to compromise.

Spanish radio station Cadena COPE claimed last night that the signing would be announced as early as Friday, but this is understood to be wide of the mark.

Ferreira Carrasco scored six times in 36 league appearances for Monaco last year.
