Aston Villa assistant boss Ray Wilkins has confirmed the Villans' interest in Tottenham Hotspur outcast Emmanuel Adebayor.
The 31-year-old striker is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane after a season in which he was twice granted compassionate leave and scored just two Premier League goals.
But that has not put Villa boss Tim Sherwood - who got the best out of the former Arsenal man during his stint as Spurs head coach - off of a move for the Togolese.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Wilkins was asked whether a move for striker was on. He replied: "I thnk it is. I'm hoping it is because when Adebayor wants to play, he is extremely effective.
"He knows the Premier League inside out, so he would be a good addition for us."
The former Real Madrid loanee made just 11 starts in all competitions last term.
