Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he could be forced into adding another striker to his squad before the transfer window ends on September 1.

Emmanuel Adebayor looks set to depart White Hart Lane this summer along with Roberto Soldado, leaving Harry Kane as Spurs' only senior striker.

And speaking after Spurs’ 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Audi Cup, the Argentine admitted another forward could be targeted.

He said: “It is true we have Harry and maybe we need to bring another striker in.”

Tottenham are on the brink of selling Adebayor and Soldado to Aston Villa and Villarreal respectively, this would leave Kane – who scored 31 goals in 51 appearances last season – as the only striker left at White Hart Lane.

And having played for England's Under-21s in the European Championships this summer, there is some concern about the youngster's fitness.

“But I am not worried about Harry,” Pochettino continued, “He came back after the Euros late in his preparations but I am not worried.

"He is ready to compete on Saturday against Manchester United."
