Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was left frustrated as his side started the new Premier League season with a 1-0 loss against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Pochettino was happy with his side’s performance but was irritated saying that “one mistake cost us the game”.
A Kyle Walker own goal on 22 minutes was enough to give United the three points and despite late pressure, Spurs could not find an equaliser.
Pochettino said: “With one mistake, we gave them the opportunity to score. We scored the own-goal and it affected the team.”
Although Spurs had a late flurry of chances, the visitors failed to really test Manchester United debutant Sergio Romero apart from a Nacer Chadli drive which he comfortably pushed away to safety.
The Tottenham boss said: “We played very well and we're pleased with our performance but disappointed with the defeat. I think we created more chances and deserved more than to lose 1-0.”
