Tottenham Hotspur go in search of their first three points of the new Premier League season when they travel to surprise package Leicester City on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The Foxes, under the guidance of former Chelsea and Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri, have picked up six points from a possible with a resounding win over Sunderland on the opening day and a further success at West Ham United last weekend.

Spurs, on the other hand, are yet to win in the Premier League this season after a 1-0 opening-day defeat at Manchester United and a 2-2 draw last weekend at home to Stoke City in which Mauricio Pochettino's side blew a two-goal lead.

The Foxes have a miserable Premier League record against their north London opponents, failing to pick up a win since a 2-1 home victory in 2002.

Since that meeting Spurs have come out on top on three occasions, the most recent a thrilling 4-3 at White Hart Lane in March.

Former Leicester loanee Harry Kane scored a hat-trick that day but it was a late own-goal from Leicester's Jeff Schlupp which proved the clincher for Pochettino's side.

After that treble on his last appearance against the Foxes, Kane is hoping to get off the mark for the season on Saturday.

He told the club website: “Obviously I scored once away and got a hat-trick at home last season so hopefully I can continue that form against them.

“I spent a bit of time at Leicester so I know a few faces there and it will be good to see them – I enjoy playing against them."

He continued: “They’ve started well and we know we’re going to be up against it at times, but we know what we’ve got to do. There’s still a long way to go so we’re just concentrating on the game this Saturday and looking to get the three points.”

Spurs were also 2-1 winners at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day. After edging two one-goal wins last term, the England international expects another close encounter on Saturday.

Kane said: “I think we’ve been a bit unlucky in the last two games, but we’ve been playing some good football so we want to start the game at a high tempo this weekend, keep the ball, create some chances and hopefully get some goals.

“It’s going to be tough – even last year when we played them in the league we had two tight games and won both by one goal, but we’ve got the ability in our team to perform well and win the match."

Spurs head coach Pochettino is still be without winger Andros Townsend, who is sidelined with an ankle injury, but the England international is the only player expected to miss out for the north Londoners.

New signing Clinton Njie is likely to feature from the bench only after training with his new teammates for the first time on Thursday having returned to Paris on Tuesday for two days to resolve a work permit issue.

Leicester boss Ranieri has no fresh injury concerns but remains without midfielder Matty James, who was ruled out for nine months with a knee injury towards the end of last season.

The affable Italian may be able to call upon new signing Gokhan Inler, subject to the Swiss international receiving international clearance in time for Saturday’s meeting at the King Power Stadium following his switch from Serie 'A' side Napoli.
