Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a second approach by Blackburn Rovers to speak to technical director Tim Sherwood about their vacant managerial post.

Blackburn are on the lookout for a new boss after they sacked Steve Kean more than a fortnight ago and it is thought Sherwood is top of their shortlist.

The Lancashire club made a tentative enquiry regarding Sherwood's availability last week and, despite being knocked back, have returned with a more concrete offer in the last few days.

Both approaches have however been rejected by Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy who has been impressed with Sherwood's work as technical director.

The 43-year-old was kept on at White Hart Lane after Harry Redknapp was sacked, and Levy is thought to be grooming Sherwood for Tottenham's top job in the future.

Sherwood spent seven years at Ewood Park before moving to White Hart Lane in February 1999 where he scored 16 goals before moving on in January 2003.
