TOTTENHAM Hotspur fans face an agonising wait to learn if they will move to Stratford after the Olympic Park Legacy Company delayed a decision until March.

The OPLC board was due to announce its preferred bidder this Friday, but said it needed more time to weigh up the benefits between Spurs vision and West Ham United's rival bid, backed by Newham Council.

Edmonton MP Andy Love was backing the campaign to keep the Premiership club in north London, which has a considerable fan base in his constituency.

He said: "I have been contacted by a lot of constituents who are Spurs fans. None favour a move to east London.

"I hope the Olympic Park Legacy Company will use the extra time they have prescribed themselves to ensure they keep their promise of retaining athletics at Stratford, and, in doing so, ensure many more years of football will be played at White Hart Lane, where Tottenham belongs."

Mr Love said Spurs' departure would leave a vacuum in the area as residents depended on the club not just for football but also for jobs and other community support.
