SPURS BLOG: Back to winning ways - now, about that defence...

By James Ranger »

AFTER what seemed like an interminable goal drought, Spurs finally remembered where the opposition net was at the weekend – but seemed to forget that theirs needed guarding too.

I'm seldom one to look a gift-horse in the mouth and I'd take a 3-2 win over a 1-0 loss from now to the end of time, especially after seeing us fail to score in any competition since March 6 up until Saturday afternoon.

Not to mention the fact that we hadn't chalked up a win since we triumphed in the San Siro on February 15.

It was just a bit concerning to ship two goals at home to a team like Stoke who, lest we forget, are in 12th place.

But seeing Peter Crouch get over whatever fit of madness saw him lunging around recklessly in Madrid last week to net a much-needed brace was very rewarding, even if we ended up only winning by one goal.

Tonight sees the singular prospect of the team chasing us taking on the mob we're currently chasing, but given that Liverpool are eight points behind us while Moneybags City are five ahead, I'm sure every wise Spurs fan will be cheering on the team in red.
