Oasis have leapt straight to the top of the album chart, the Official UK Charts Company said.
Dig Out Your Soul, their seventh studio album, comes 15 years after the Gallagher brothers exploded onto the British music scene.
The Mancunian rock stars knocked Kings of Leon off the top spot, with Only By The Night falling to number two.
Pop Idol winner Will Young's album Let It Go, which went straight in at number two last week, was shunted down to three. And Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad went slightly better, climbing a single place to number four.
Oasis fared less well in the singles chart where The Shock Of The Lightening dropped 13 places to number 16.
Pink took the top spot for a second week with punky pop tune So What.
Kings of Leon again had to settle for second best, with former number one Sex On Fire at number two.
Sugababes climbed a place to number three with Girls, and Rihanna was up two to number four with Disturbia.
Kaiser Chiefs had the highest new entry after Never Miss A Beat stormed straight in at number five.
