Ben Stiller credits himself with helping Rhys Ifans pass his driving test.
"I taught him all about driving," the actor explained at the Hollywood premiere of their new comedy Greenberg, in which Rhys had to drive despite not having a licence at the time.
Ben joked he'd feared for his own safety filming with the Welsh star, saying: "He had to drive in one scene and he doesn't drive - he doesn't drive in Wales and he definitely doesn't drive in America on the wrong side [of the road], there's trepidation in my character as [Rhys is] driving and that was very real."
He laughed: "It helped me as an actor to have a real reaction of being frightened - he's great though and he went and has got his licence since."
Ben also explained his new facial hair as he turned out for the premiere sporting a strange beard.
"It's the lazy disguise, I didn't shave for a while, then I did and then I didn't," he said.
